Environmental Wood Solutions, EWS, was started in 2000. EWS is a full-service waste wood recycler and one of the largest land clearing contractors in Michigan. EWS collects the majority of our raw materials from our clearing work in the form of trees and stumps. EWS recycles these products to produce a high quality landscape mulch in both hardwoods and dyed materials. EWS also provides a convenient disposal operation for contractors and homeowners at our facilities in Orion and Whitmore Lake, Michigan.
During the compost season of spring through fall our facility will accept as much as 2000 tons of yard waste material per week. We grind and transport the material on a daily basis to DEQ Certified Composting facilities. There, the material is stored and turned on a regular basis for approximately two years. The material is then screened and made ready for sale as compost.
We believe recycling is the answer and we do our best to keep compostable/recyclable material out of the landfills by accepting leaves, brush, stumps, logs, pallets, wood crates and construction material for disposal. See our Price List for all disposal rates and for our material list and prices.
In 2008 EWS registered with the state of Michigan as a compost facility. You will find our facility listed on the Michigan DEQ web site as a compost site.
